Media Invite For Immediate Release 17 August 2021 Eastern Cape Liquor Board to undertake an underage drinking awareness campaign and promote responsible trading The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) cordially invites you to an underage drinking awareness campaign and to promote responsibly trading in the Alfred Ndzo District Municipality and OR Tambo District. In its endeavour to intensify the fight against underage drinking in schools, ECLB will be sensitising learner’s about detriments of consuming liquor to their studies and health in general. This initiative will intensify the fight of alcohol abuse in schools and assist to streamline the awareness to learner’s. 15 schools will be visited in both districts. Alcohol abuse among young pupils continues to cause havoc in schools, and high crime statistics are attributed to alcohol/substance abuse in the areas. Also this platform will be used to make young girls aware about alcohol related social challenges that affect women such as Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Rape and diseases associated with alcohol abuse. South African Police Service (SAPS) will form part of the campaign as well. Media is, therefore, cordially invited to be part of the campaign to fight alcohol abuse in schools and assist to spread the message of underage drinking.
