The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB), in partnership with the office of the Eastern Cape Legislature’s ‘Chair of Chairs’ will host Roundtable Discussions with the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (NMBM) Liquor Traders and other stakeholders to engage on how to promote responsible trading and alleviate the scourge of crime in the NMBM.
All liquor traders from NMBM have been invited to the Roundtable Discussions.
The ECLB is intensifying its efforts to promote responsible trading and root out criminal activities that are perpetrated within liquor establishments, including murder, interpersonal violence, sexual abuse, gender-based violence (GBV), rape, and other crimes. Recently, some areas of the NMBM have experienced unprecedented levels of crime, resulting in loss of life and widespread fear.
To address this, the ECLB in collaboration with Provincial Legislature’s Chair of Chairs office has convened a session with liquor traders and stakeholders to a Roundtable Discussions on how to prevent liquor establishments from becoming drivers of criminal activities.
The media is invited to join this important occasion that seeks to contribute to the fight against crime and alcohol abuse in the Metro.
