EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD TO LAUNCH UNDERAGE DRINKING SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMME IN GRAHAMSTOWN

The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) cordially invites media to the school-based underage drinking launch targeting  more than five schools in Makanda Local Municipality, at Grahamstown.

The ECLB seeks to curd the increasing rate of underage drinking amongst school-going
youth by empowering learners with information on the scourge of underage drinking.  
Alcohol abuse among learners continues to cause havoc in schools around Grahamstown.
Case of crime from this area are attributed to alcohol abuse. This platform will be used to
make young girls aware about alcohol related social challenges that affect women such as
Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), rape and diseases associated with alcohol abuse.
Media is, therefore, cordially invited to be part of the campaign to fight underage drinking in
schools.
