Liquor traders are urged to obey the new regulations, which are largely intended to reduce the escalating cases of Covid 19 infections in our country.

During the current Alert Level 3, the sale of liquor by licensed premises for OFF-CONSUMPTION is only permitted from 10h00 to 18h00 excluding Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The sale of liquor for ON-CONSUMPTION is permitted form 10am to 20h00.

We strongly condemn any inappropriate behaviour that some people show when they are intoxicated, which may result in incidents such as gender-based violence, rape and road accidents” said the ECLB CEO, Dr Makala.

The ECLB urges everyone to exercise caution and drink liquor in moderation. Working in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, ECLB will continue to monitor compliance with the new regulations.

The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) has noted the moving of the country to Alert Level 4 with the immediate suspension of sale of liquor for the next fourteen days.
